Shadow people may be the most commonly seen apparitions. What are they? Dark ghosts? Beings from some other time or dimension? Whatever they are, they can be terrifying to those who see them, as you’ll read in the frightening cases told here. In all of these encounters – including some in which these shadows have actually been felt – they seem to have intelligence and may even be following some mysterious purpose. What are they… and what do they want?Scariest Shadow People Encounters originally appeared on About.com Paranormal Phenomena on Friday, October 30th, 2009 at 23:22:49.

Paranormal Activity – review

The big problem with seeing a mega-hyped movie a few weeks after it opened in the theaters is that it can never live up to those heaping piles of hype. I had that experience with The Blair Witch Project many years ago and again this past weekend when I finally got to see Paranormal Activity. From the way people have been talking about the film, rightly or wrongly I expected more from it — specifically, more scares. It’s not that the movie in completely ineffective, but it’s certainly not effective enough as a ghost story to become a classic, as some have promoted it to be. Ghosts and Poltergeists

“I was up around 2:30 a.m. in a darkened room, sitting on a couch watching TV, as I couldn’t sleep,” says Neal. “With nothing more than the emanation from my cathode-ray tube, from the corner of my right eye I saw a luminescent, free-form apparition enter from my bedroom, hovering about five feet from the floor. It moved with intelligent volition and stopped right in front of me from where I sat. It appeared, as best as I can describe, as a glowing smoke, moving quickly within itself….” For Neal, this was just the beginning of his ghostly experiences. Read the rest of his story.

Lilly: The little ghost of the Trans-Allegheny Lunatic Asylum

On October 30, 2009, Zak, Nick and Aaron of the</em> Ghost Adventures television show (The Travel Channel) will be investigating the Trans-Allegheny Lunatic Asylum in West Virginia. As promotion for the live, 7-hour event, paranormal bloggers were invited to write a fictional story about one of the ghosts or gruesome events that took place at the asylum. I thought I’d give it a try. This is my story about the little ghost, Lilly.Lilly: The little ghost of the Trans-Allegheny Lunatic Asylum originally appeared on About.com Paranormal Phenomena on Sunday, October 25th, 2009 at 22:41:42.

Hollywood creates many spooky films that can be great fun to watch, but there’s nothing fun about these scariest hauntings. Unexplained things… unspeakable things… have terrorized homes that were once as quiet and normal as yours or mine. From some unfathomable place, dark and sinister forces have crept into our reality with a mission of disturbance, fright and even violence. Here are some of the creepiest true accounts of hauntings ever recorded. The Scariest Hauntings of All Time originally appeared on About.com Paranormal Phenomena on Friday, October 23rd, 2009 at 12:44:19.

Fringe: Dream Logic

In the most recent episode of Fringe (Season 2, Episode 5), “Dream Logic,” some lunatic found a way to implant a chip in his victims that transmitted their dreams to him before they could experience them. In effect, he stole their dreams. The unfortunate consequence was that the victims began to dream while they were awake — violent dreams that drove them to horrible murder.
The villain’s technology does not exist, of course, but it reminded me of something I’ve always wondered about: Would it someday be possible to record our dreams in the same way we record TV shows? Why not? Dreams are made up of electrical impulses that our sleeping brains “see” as pictures and “hear” as audio, so it seems that it might be possible. What would that be like? Dreams are often so disjointed and crazy that I wonder what it be like to view them on our TVs. Would it be wonderful… or horrific? What would be the effect of watching them outside our sleeping state? Would that drive us mad? So I ask you…
